Boat No Move

Okie Dokie..
My 8 day old to me, but 1993 240BR is officially tied to the dock and awaiting a DR's call after being towed in to Victoria at Allatoona.

The engine was "supposedly" but i believe him, rebuilt and I was taking it easy these first times out to allow the seals to seat etc. (looks great but burning a bit of oil, but was told this is not unusual for newly rebuilt engines)

It will not run/catch. With my limited knowledge i am thinking a pump or filter or ...

Anyhoo... now i am doing the waiting thing to hear from the Marina about what is wrong.

My wallet is nervous!!! ha..

Sorry to hear about your problem.

Are you just seeing the oil level go down, or are you getting actual smoke from the exhaust?

Just put a thousand bucks in your wallet now to make it feel better until the Dr. comes a calling... :lol:

Actually not seeing any smoke, except a teeny bit around the metal filter looking thing that is in the valve cover.

I thought i would give the update and the WORSE news..

First fix was simply a bad wire at the coil. Easy fix.. few dollars and a smile.

Test drove... took out today for hours with kids. no high temps.. no oil issues and BLAM..

cuts out and seizes (i believe) starter would not turn engine and i could not move the belts.

Towed again in first 2 weeks. This time I would guess its bad/worse. (Big thanks Rich Q. on Allatoona who towed me all the way to ramp at Victoria and helped get boat on trailer)

couple of questions as i play worse case scenario in my head:
1) Do you replace engine? with new or reman? Or scrap?
2) will a 7.4L fit in same compartment as old 5.7L in the 1993 240 BR Sea Ray? ( i know it was an option)
3) will a newer or injected 5.7 mercruiser work?
3) Anyone added thru hull exhaust when doing an engine change on an old SeaRay?

Thoughts?? Help??

I am still less than 10k total in boat trailer and accessories so may be worth the fixing.. ?
