Boat names

View attachment 22008
Beachcomber was my CB handle back in the 70's and 80's, and it just seemed to fit the style of boating we like to do...finding out of the way places to drop the hook, hang out, explore with the dinghy, etc.

One of my favorite old posts: http://clubsearay.com/showthread.php/32396-My-78-Sea-Ray-(aka-The-Panty-Dropper)

I've fixed everything on my boat that was wrong with it when I bought it..except the name. It didn't have one...but I'm finding that it's just not easy coming up with something original. I'm going to have to come up with something soon though, because I'm repainting the vent cover..and the names going to be on that part.

Hooyah
Navy term used as either a self-motivational expression or to indicate an answer of affirmative...which was what i was looking for from the wife during the months of deciding to purchase.

speaking of which, anyone have some advice on removing the old name without damaging the gelcoat?

I used a blow dryer to warm up my state registration sticker, and it came off easily picking at a corner with my fingernail. Followed up with some Goo Gone to get the residual glue. The boat name letters that I have are a similar decal / sticker and should work about the same way.

Mine is named STORM. Pretty common, but my oldest started high school - the Elkhorn South High STORM. Their blue gold colors match our boat perfectly.

It was kind of funny, the paperwork I received with my boat name letters referred to my "hailing port" of Elkhorn, NE. There is no port in Elkhorn, unless you count a raft launch on the Elkhorn River. There is no Elkhorn for that matter; it suffered a controversial annexation by Omaha a few years ago. Port Elkhorn, the Unicorn of ports.

i named my boat "dream girl". i know it sounds very generic... but to me it has so many meanings. its the name of a dave matthews song about finding that perfect someone. this boating lifestyle has always been a love of mine. i owned a runabout before my sea ray. i had dreamed for years about being able to have a boat that i could spend the night on and escape from reality. i would watch videos on youtube about people cruising and sailing and i would dream of how awesome it would be. i watched this video in particular and it set the wheels in motion. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHDCacJwa-k )this guy followed his dream and i thought it was time for me to follow mine. i have now spent my first full season with the boat and i can still honestly say she is still a dream come true for me.

Although my boat is not officially named, as shown in this photoshopped photo.....my 3 year old granddaughter recited a scene from the movie "Tangled" and she put so much into trying to recreate the scene, we just had to name the boat with some of what she said. I will have the name made in the spring.....NoChoice_01sm600.jpg
