I purchased a 1998 Sundancer at the end of the season and need some input on sizing and positioning of my boat name "Hang on Sloopy".

I have you talked to Poseidon about the name change?

This is where I put mine recently on a 2000 270 Sundancer but the stern is different than yours. I think the longer name you plan on using will be better than the current short one. I would put it all on one line as well. Unless you put it on the side of the hull I am not sure of any other options.

Loneranger-I have many weaknesses and one of them is my artistic talent. I am visual person not conceptual. Do you think I could do 4" letters arched over eye ring?

I am not a fan of arched lettering except on sailboats. I guess because sailboats have such curved hulls that it sort of compliments each other. I am not sure I would try to work around the eye that much. I might remove the eye, place my lettering, and then replace the eye.

If I wanted something other than straight across, I might use a very large 'H' in Hang and a very large 'Y' in Sloopy but no real curve. It also helps when you can see the boat in person. I spent many afternoons swimming behind my boat thinking about different ways to letter it. My wife likes the lettering but wants a new name.

The sire below is the cheapest guy I have found to do lettering. If you give him a font type and the dimensions of your area he can come up with something for you to pick from. He helped me with the NautiLady part. The Louisville Tn was pretty easy.

The more I look at it, I would put about as tall a letter as you can and try to stretch the lettering across the entire stern width. 'Hang on' to the left of the eye and 'Sloopy' to the right.

I appreciate the input. This is just one of the projects that I am planning for in the spring when I get her out and unwrap her. I like the idea of stretching it out and exagerating the H and Y.
