They all look like brochures nowadays they are getting so thin.

That is for sure, both Northeat Boating and Chesapeake are skipping are skipping an issue. :smt009 For someone in the northeat both Soundings and Northeat Boating are very good.

Sea magazine out of the Pacific Northwest is the best I have seen. Boating, Trailer Boating and Boating World are all kind of thinned out and flimsy now. Motorboating is good too.

Mike, you're just saying that because you were in it!

I also like soundings but it can be a downer, every other page is about a tragedy at sea.

Soundings seems to have the most interesting stuff to read, but I do get Boating magazine as well, and it is not like it was (seems nothing is anymore).

I like Boating and MotorBoating - I also like Trailer Boats. Trailer Boats is more geared towards smaller boats but the concepts, reviews, etc are applicable to larger boats as well. I also get Power and Motor Yacht - not that I can afford anything in there but they keep sending me free subscriptions. The pictures are worth the admission price and of course dreaming about some of the ads for when the Powerball people come knocking....

+1 for both they have some interesting and useful information. Usually you can get one of them free at the boat shows.

+1 for Motorboating, they used to give out a free one year subscription at the boat show... But sadly they no longer do. How much better can that get. Cheap admission, free parking, and a one year mag. subscription... Come on Jan....

Motorboating used to have an interesting section i think called boat keeper that had some good advice around maint. items on the boat. But sadly I believe the writer of it passed on some time back and that left the mag. I remember reading it in my younger days thinking what a waste, but owning a boat now I see the value and wish for its return... I am going to check out some of the other title you all mentioned... DIY boating sounds interesting!!!! Thanks!

I used to like the reviews in Boating and MB for all the great shots and interesting comments. Now they fail to grab my attention. Funny thing is Power Boating and Yachting <title?> was an add on free subscription for Motorboating and while I won't be in the market for a 113' Hargrave yacht anytime soon, the review content and style was very similar to the old days of reviews from Boating with good details, pictures, etc.. It was one of the few boating mags with some ot that content left..
