I have a 220 Sea Ray sundeck 4360 lbs or there about - plus fuel & battery & other weight - so I am looking at a 6000 lb lift - this will be on a lake shore at my own dock

any other advice ?

Although I don't currently own a lift but have used one and have seen many. I'd make sure that when the boat is on the lift you are able to have walkways installed on either side and maybe even under the swim platform so that you can wash/wax the boat and flush/service the outdrive while it's up on the lift.

I created a similiar thread last fall, http://clubsearay.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5594. Though mine was for saltwater. I'm still looking; our pier was supposed to be finished in May, but hasn't even gotten through the damn permit process yet.

Anyway, one suggestion. A 6000lb lift is pushing up close to your boat. Especially if you want to lift or lower it with other gear and people onboard.

Plus, what if you ever upgrade to a 240, or...? You do not want to replace and buy another boat lift!

I have a 2000lb boat, but we're looking to get a 12,000lb. lift. I don't ever plan on having to buy a bigger one because my "new" boat can't handle it.

Otherwise, I'll be interested to see what comments you get, as we're still shopping too.

Love a lift, with a remote control. I had 2 lifts, and recommend a larger one the first time you get one.
I have a 290 AJ now on a 16,000 lb lift, but had a 21' center console deck boat before that only needed a 6,000 lb lift and thought I would never change, so I basically paid twice. It's pretty hard to get rid of an old lift, the pilings were also relocated for the larger lift which added to the cost. So if you even have a glimmer of a new larger boat in the future, get as large as one that will fit your slip.

Ask your neigbors and others on your lake. They've done the leg work and will tell you what works best for your situation, as most are regional vendors. My cantilever type Ozark brand works great, but you need 7-8 foot of water.

I am in the process of putting my own lift in. It will be hydraulic and quick. I got tired of waiting to get quotes (2-3 months and still none) from 3 people. I did see 1 hydraulic lift at the Atlantic City boat show back in early spring but was not impressed with the way it was constructed. The only thing I had to outsource was getting the pilings put in. Hydraulic lifts are the Cadillac of lifts from what I hear. I do know they are a lot quicker. I will be lifting my 50 footer 8feet in about a minute. Remote control of coarse.

fetch ND;

Don't bother with the 6000lb; jump up to at least 10,000lb. I had a 220SD as my fist boat and though about a smaller lift, but once you all al the junk and get everyone on board you may be pushing the limits of you're lift not to mention that if you upgrade you will have to invest in a new lift.

down south here in salt water the only way to go is with a electric cable cradel lift.

here is a link to the company that made mine.
