Boat Launching 101

You're going to love this guy.

This guy just bought a new boat and decided to take her for the maiden voyage. This was his first boat and he wasn't sure of the procedures.

He consulted with his local boat dealer for advice, but they just said "Don't let the trailer get too deep in the water, but deep enough so that the boat will float."

Well, he didn't know what they meant by that as he could barely get the trailer in the water.

Guys, you just can't make this stuff up.

Some of my best days were spent sitting at the boat launch watching people like that. One day I pulled in, the guy next to me backed his trailer down, forgot to put the emergency brake on, in gear (standard shift) and shut the truck off. He jump out of the cab, ran to the dock, jumped into his boat drove it on the trailer, and while he was hooking the gable the truck roiled backwards. The boat stayed afloat, but the truck was not so luck. I had him hook a tow rope to his truck, I attached it to my trailer and pulled all of it out.
