Ugh, that's what I thought. There has to be something. We have our entire cockpit floor covered with SeaDek. That's one heck of a great product, but I can already see the signs of damage from our dog. Our boy is a 10yo yellow lab who basically does nothing all day, and he still managed to snag a few spots. I imagine any sort of active dog would tear it to shreds.
I know this post is a couple years old but I got to ask, what is the name of the color of this carpet from Corinthian? Thanks.the newer woven vinyl carpets like Infinity claim to be tough enough to withstand pet claws....I have that type carpet from Corinthian in my boat for 3 years and there absolutely no signs of wear.....but I don't have pets....might be worth checking into....

It looks gorgeous. Do you like it? Is it hot in the sun? Would you buy it again?it is called 'Black Pearl'.....

Thanks for the help.thanks....we like it a lot...it does get hot when exposed to direct sunlight.....that is why we did not put it (or anything else) on the swim platform....but we have not had any issues with it being hot since we have a double bimini top that blocks most of the sun from heating up the flooring in the cockpit...and we usually wear shoes or flip flops anyway...i would definitely buy it again....

We are in the middle of a floor project, and have a dog that will be with us all the time. If its going to be below deck, carpet is easy. We took all ours out, sanded the gel coat/fiberglass smooth, new gel coat and waiting now for the aqua marine deck to arrive. Same as sea deck, about half the price. Above deck, cockpit area, we have marine carpet sections, used as throw rugs, stays flat and inplace. The rubber backing keeps it from slipping around on the gel coat. Contrary to what most would think, when it gets wet it resists moving around even more. In my opinion, seadek flooring in the cockpit area of these cabin cruisers is nice, but pricey. When you need to pull up floor boards, just roll or fold up the marine carpet till done. Another piece of doggy advice, if you dont have dremel tool already to trim your dogs nails, i recommend one. If you stay after their nails, several times a week, not taking too much, you can cause the wick to move closer to thier paw, thus making the nail shorter. If they are walking on their nails, it can be uncomfortable or even painful. CheersAny suggestions for boat flooring that is dog friendly. We had Aqua Flooring and our golden mini doodle did some damage with his nails. Thanks in advanced!

Foam deck flooring is used widely in the wake and surf boats. It shouldn't be exposed to 24/7 elements, especially the sun. Ours is below deck. Sounds like the regular marine carpet that most fokks glue down, will be ideal for them. Our boats previous owners cut the peices in the cockpit area and are not glued down. They stay flat and easy to pull up when needed. In this pic you can only see the one piece, 2 others go all across the back near the transomANy vinyl flooring will get hot in the sun and burn the dogs feet. In direct sun the best is still carpet. Sea deck is good but dog will wear through the closed form. Any material using a plastic as a base material will also be hot. I have two dogs that travel with us and we have bought and removed a lot of products. Carpet is really the best in open areas.
