Link below is the Article.

Early this morning one boat caught fire which spread to the second boat. The news article says one boat was a 30ft. That was wrong, one boat is a 44ft the other was a 50ft. Article does not mention manufacturer.

Bet someone had an engine room heater that went bad?

I heard about this on 98 Rock this morning coming in. They did not have any details other than two boats? Bilge heater??.

Gunpowder Cove, in Joppatown. I don't know if it was a heater or not... My post was just a question. I have been looking on the Baltimore Sun web site for more info.... nothing yet.

Bill,

We keep our boat in Middle River, but I live up in Belcamp..right up the street from you.

Will have to look for you next boating season.

Craig

Lucky bastards.

Insurance. Since yacht policies are agreed cash value, most people have more insurance than the boat is worth on the open market, especially these days.

Typical remark from you.....

Don't know the facts, and than place this kind of tough comments.

2 people injured.
But you have to make them bastards.

Yes really lucky....

Cool. I ticked off the euroguy again!

To PMv...."Lucky Bastard" in this sense may not be deragatory...in the states we say this meaning whomever is luckier than we are. Imagine a bar full of sailors on leave & one leaves with a lady...his buddies might say "Lucky Bastard...."

I took FC3's statement to mean that the boat owners might have hit the jackpot with an agreed insured value on a boat that is worth far less due to the World's recent financial woes.

If that's your goal, be happy with it...

I think that some of your typical comments, are not funny.

I am free to express my feelings.
Maybe you hurt some people, with this kind of reactions.
I like humor, and don't care words like bastards if it's used on a really funny way.
But if you accuse people of criminal activity's, without knowing the facts I think that is wrong.
Also I think it's dumb to call them lucky, and later see that there are people injured and maybe burned.
Imagine these guy's are family from some CSR members, than you could really see what I mean.

But I think my words doesn't care you at all, and you react again on your way.

I have nothing on you personal, only think that you not only damage your own reputation but also that from other members.

Euroguy? :smt043that's funny!

I know what the expression "lucky bastards" means.

But calling injured people lucky bastards, and accusing them from criminal activities without knowing the facts is wrong.

Did you saw someone get hurt in the you tube video?

Now that is a funny video - the guy at the end didn't seem to be able to walk well with that load in his pants....

I accused them of criminal activity? Where? Idiotic.

But calling injured people lucky bastards, and accusing them from criminal activities without knowing the facts is wrong.

From the article: It was not known whether the injured were aboard one or both of the boats or were bystanders affected by heavy smoke that obscured the fire scene.

At this point we don't know if the boat owners were injured or not. But please explain the insinuation that Frank has accused these people of any crime. Since when is it criminal to benefit from a legitimate insurance claim? I don't know how it is in the Netherlands, but in the US boat insurance ain't cheap.

I watched my boat burn to the water line one night. The next day I found out that insurance was going to pay me more for that boat than I could have sold it for. At that point I was one lucky bastard - and anything but a criminal.
