Boat Explodes in South Haven MI

I was changing my oil Sunday when I heard a loud boom. I turned around to see the boat in a neighboring marina blow up. Very Loud!!

I heard one of the four was released, but I am not sure of the rest.

Well I sure hope they're ok! Hate to see that happen to anyone.

These are the kinds of stories though that make me glad I'm a little paranoid at the gas dock. Everyone off the boat, shut-off the battery, vent the cabin afterwards, and run the blower when done. Better safe than charbroiled! :smt009

One is in critical condition and two are hosptalized in serious condition. One was treated and not admitted according to the news this morning.

Thats definitely not cool. Like the saying goes"its better to be careful a thousand times than to get killed once". Man I hope everyone turns out ok. I've suffered some fairly bad 2nd degree burns and can say its very painful. I can't imagine serious 2nd or 3rd degree burns requiring skin grafts etc. Prayers for all involved.

Reading through the comments, it looks like they were fueling the boat at their slip, not the gas dock, ad had a large external fuel container down from a truck. I've heard of people carrying their own fuel from a truck down to their slip but haven't seen someone do it at our marina. I wouldn't think it would be implicitly more dangerous than the gas dock as long as you know what you're doing? Prayers for them tonight.
