Hi I am new to boating and have lots of ?'s lol.. ok I have a bow cover and cockpit cover my question is do I need a full cover if so should I remove the other covers or put cover over..

If I need a full cover please tell me what cover brand and material you would use and why, I am looking and see all different covers in all kinds of price ranges

Ron

Both covers are fine unless you are talking about a winter cover?

Ron, what are you thinking you need a full cover for? I'm sure you figured this out, but obviously the benefit to a full is better coverage. The benefit to bow/cockpit is ease of putting it on - especially in the water. For a smaller boat, personally, I'd just stick with a full cover. The bow cover will help on chilly days.

One cover on top of another will lead to them wearing out faster.

There are TONS AND TONS of threads about covers - what material, where to get, etc. Try a search first, please. If you're not finding the answers you're looking for, by all means post back with more questions. Always good to try searching first, though.

thanks. the only reason I was looking at a full cover was I was worried about rain getting in the area around the bimini top, sorry for being anal but I want the absolute best for my new baby

Oh, I see. Just depends on how big the gap is around the pole. My cockpit cover lets virtually none in - and there are two biminis (8 poles). But, when I had this cover made I specified that I wanted it to fit very tight to the poles. The guy did a great job.

i will take pics tomorrow

thanks again

Covers over covers = mildew!
The inside of the boat cannot breath if you cover it too tightly.

We use a custom fit Sharkskin cover from Overtons. Was about $400 for our bowrider.

Works great and has straps that you can pull down to the trailer, ore we use it to cover the boat while in the slip during the summer.

Bimini is no problem, we just fold it flat back towards the aft, and then cover. Works great.

I got a custom full storage cover made for my boat from Denam awnings....in Saskatoon Sask. Canada.

About 400 bucks for me but cheaper for you with exchange....they may have the dimentions for your boat...they have a website too...use google.

ok here is a pic of the area I am worried about in the rain

I think I would be worried about those areas as well. Looks like also an easy place for rodents to get in during winter lay up.

My cover does not snap on like yours, it fits over the top completely seamless and has straps all around to tie down to trailer. when I ordered, I had included the bimini top option and there is extra space sewn into the cover to go over the bimini when folded down.

Get funnels to place over each bimini and tape them with electrical tape at the top. You may need to alter the spout of each funnel to clear the bimini.

That's good thinking, right there!

Along those lines, maybe just split the funnel down one side and simply "snap" it over the pole. It'll come back to it's original shape, or close enough, and then just rest on the cover.

I've had those holes on my boat (and the last 2 boats) and they really are ok. The edge of them seems to stop water getting down the hole as they channel it around the holes. Obviously you might get small drops that hit straight down the hole, but I've never had a problem. All I do is to ensure that in the winter that I take the carpets out of the boat so that they don't get damp and go nasty!
