Boat collision kills 1 near Statue of Liberty

This is so sad. I am teaching my son how to operate the boat and rule 1 is keep your head on a swivel. Rule 2 is never make a move until you look 360 degrees. There are no lines in the water to go by.

When he gets old enough rule 1 will change to never drink and drive ANYTHING!

Thoughts and prayers to the victims and the families (his and theirs).

As a new (again) boater, I am simply amazed at how many people drink and drive boats on our lake. It's like you say the word "boat" and "beer" almost immediately follows. I see it everywhere ... boats anchored, people partying and drinking like there's no tomorrow, then the engines start, they all hoop and holler, and speed away like they are racing.

We stay as far away from these idiots as possible. If they are lucky, they'll only kill themselves one day.

I guess I'm the exception, because I do not drink at all.
