Sorry to hear about that, Somewhere in my web searches for a new boat I saw an advertisment for a Cellular boat alarm. It may be something you want to google and look into? on the LED comment that is a very cheap and inexpensive theft deterant and quite easy to install. A red LED is available at Radio shack for a buck or two wire it into a flasher from about any car available at most auto parts stores. It's the part that makes the hazard lights flash. Then wire it into a battery source tipically the boats battery. It will drain a small amount of power I would couple it with a battery tender which is a float charger that turns itself on and off when the battery drains to a certian voltage. They are about 35 bucks available at any motorcycle shop. If located in a very visual location it will look like a car alarm and deter most theifs. Especially if there are other boats in the area with no alarm or flashing LED in this case. Why go for the one with a possable alarm when there's 10 more without? I would also throw in a toggle switch so you could turn the flashing light off when using the boat it could get annoying if you take an evening plesure cruise. I would say with everything involved 10 bucks to hook it up or 45 bucks with the charger to maintain the battery. Which will also prolong battery life if the boat is parked un cranked for long periods of time.
