For all us guys with blue hulls here's some picks of my days effort when on the hard for stern drive service recently. As we all know, blueys are hard to clean and hard to keep clean, but they do look nice when done, if only until the next venture outside the marina!

Good job!!! I also know the pain:smt038

Looks good, and I know what you mean. It seems to take only one trip and just like that, it looks dirty!

Terry, That doe's look sweet.... I know how hard it is to keep a white one clean can't imagine a dark hull... Happy boating buddy!

Terry,
I think thats a must to take a pic of the just waxed/polished boat before throwing again to the sea.
This pose is the proof of our miserable blue hulls are/were as shiny as a mirror when the job done. After splashing to the sea and the first ride it starts to loose it's shine even done professionally with the highest quality products, unless in a covered slip.
Your majesty below my evidence of waxed/polished blue hull. It's from May2010, altough I did the same last year and this year just last friday but in very hurry and couldn't shoot close photos.

From last week annual maintenance, just splashed.

I believe Tiara has given up on blue gel coats. They will, however, paint a boat blue (or any color) which is difficult to keep clean, but easier than gel coat to keep up. You just wash it to get it back. It seems everyone buys a colored hull once. White is the answer.

Hi Sayat,

Nice gloss on your hull too. As you say, it is compulsory that we take a photo after all that work since we know things just are going to look as good again for awhile. By the way, you have also taken a photo of a nice looking classic in the background. Do you know any details about that boat?

Also, did you note the boatdiesel post by Richard that says he has done 4600 hours from new in his KAD300 and only recently replaced the turbo and riser. Said he just maintained it well. That's what I like to hear!

Take care Sayat

You're right SBW. Salt water crystals don't look anywhere near as bad on a white hull as they do on a coloured hull. So, white is the default colur for most boats. But, if there is one benefit of a blue hull, it is the extra care you have to take to avoid hitting the dock with it. (If you want your hull to still look near prisitine). The downside is you have to wash the hull down after every trip otherwise it will soon start to look ghastly. Overall though I prefer the blue hull as a point of difference and when its good, its very good.

Terry,thanks for the compliments.

The wooden classic is a local brand, single, shaft driven, bow thruster, planning etc.
There are lots of wooden boat builders in our country which is famous for.

Richard Cook is very famous over the internet with his KAD44 powered "Bounty". As I always say diesel Volvo Penta is a bullet proof engine if you look after well like other major brands.
And of course 4600 hours is nothing if you maintain it like your baby. Mine is just at 423 hours and can't wait to run it at the weekend for 80Nmile round trip.

Calm seas and fair winds my friend.
