We have a 2002 460DA with a Nautical Structures hydraulic transom lift that blew a seal on the main cylinder on the port side. After limping back to port, being passed by sailboats all the way, some friends helped lift it back up into locked position. To do that, we disconnected all of the lines in the ER to relieve the pressure in the remaining good cylinder the placed two inflatable bags under the swim platform then pumped them up. Once it was above the water e pulled it the rest of the way with ropes. Since we are the fifth owners, of course there are no manuals for the unit. I'm currently trying to work with NS to figure out what the model is and what the specs are for the seal/cylinder. Does anyone have experience with this size lift or know good hydraulic shop in the Annapolis/Chesapeake area?

Did they make the lift on your boat? http://www.nautical-structures.com/transom-lifts

A quick look at their product list doesn't show a lift for a 2002 460DA.

The boat needs a short haul to replace the cylinder. Yes it could be rebuilt but if it was me.....I would buy a new one and have the old one rebuilt (when you can find someone competent to do it). That way, you have a spare for when the other side has a problem.
