Who, what, why??? Who is using blogs? What are you using them for? Am I missing something?? Why would you make a blog entry instead of a post? It does not look like the blogs are getting many comments and their questions are not being answered???

ps: I put this as a Blog post lost week and no comments....

Hey Chuck,

I never used the blog feature b/c I see no point/value in them. Maybe I'm missing something, but why do we have it if threads/posts covers everything we need to have an open discussion.

Similarly, I don't use Visitors Message, b/c we don't get notifications and if you need direct contacts we have PM or Email options.

I think some who post questions actually meant to post it in the Forum and instead created a Blog entry. I would create a Blog entry if I wanted to create a How-To, or maybe explain something in-depth that would be beneficial to others. But I never have...yet. :smt001

I would think that the Blogs are a way to record your voyage or chronicle the daily routines on your boat. The Forum would be a better medium for discussions and getting questions answered...

Heck never even noticed the Blog link until you posted about them here!!! Looks like a good method to share cruises with everyone rather then posting in the forums... Who knows may catch on... or not.

Thanks for the replies. Yes I have to agree about using the blogs for trip logs/journals.

Blogs are a great way to record your journeys and memories. For me I keep it for boating with some other things thrown in there. It is also a great way to keep friends and family up to date on "what we have been up to"........My dream is to someday cruise full time and I am a blog following whore of people who have cast off their lines and are cruising full time. Most of these are sailboaters, but I live vicariously through them and their destinations..... I have also learned a lot from people who chronical solutions to everyday boat problems and tips to make cruising better and more enjoyable. Some people hate reading blogs and that is okay and I understand that.....There have been many great trips on this site and I thank them for sharing their journeys and we all enjoy reading about their cruising.

Agree with the external boating blogs. Just to make it clear I was talking about blogs on this site.
