Hi,

We're in Watch Hill and opted to stay one more night yesterday rather than cross to Block with a small craft advisory in effect. Today is breezy and there's a SMA in effect until 1 PM. The seas are supposed to diminish slightly this afternoon, so I was planning on timing our crossing around 1-2 PM.

I know it's only an hour from here but this is my first trip to Block. Anyone have any advice on timing and/or course?

Thanks.

Looking at the weather, it seems that the later you go, the better the conditions will get. The north west wind is in your favor........

We just completed a run from Montauk to Sag Harbor, with nasty conditions. You'll be going the other direction, with the northerly gusts to your back. If you have any trepidation, I'd strongly suggest you wait. Keep us posted.

Thanks for the advice. We left Watch Hill around 3 PM and conditions couldn't have been nicer. Light wind at our back and not even any white caps... very smooth ride. On the way home yesterday the wind was from the southwest and our course took us west to Old Saybrook. Quite a few large swells and some 2-4 foot chop mixed in but we were taking it at a 45 degree angle so just a little bumpy.
