Block and then where?

We are planning out trip for 10 days in August leaving from old saybrook ct. The plan is to spend 3-4 nights in block island, 1 night in cuttyhunk and then we are up in the air. The thought is to head to possibly Menemsha as its a short run from Cuttyhunk and spend a night or two. Are their nice beaches close to the harbor here?
The other option we are pondering is to skip MV and just head to Nantucket however the admiral thinks I'm being to aggressive with the amount of cruising time. Any reccomendations on stops in this are?
Our ideal day is a nice harbor and mooring, beautiful beach, followed by cocktails and a tasty dinner at a scenic restaurant.

We are planning to go to Newport (Newport Harbor Hotel....has a nice pool and in town). Then off to Edgartown (on a mooring) in MV but you need a dingy. I've never been to Menemsha though. Thought it was kind of isolated from the rest of the Island. Once your at Block, everything else is 1-2 hour away....go for it!

So you would do menemsha over cutty? We will likely bite te bullit and do nantucket. We cruise at 32 knots usually so it should go quick. I hear fuel isn't bad in menemsha so it may be a good stopping point on our way to nantucket

We always fuel up at East Marine (Falmouth)...diesel was 3.89/g.
