Hey Everyone, I have some vacation time in June and just wanted to know if any of you were planning a trip over to the islands around the middle of June? Wanted to follow some of you over as this will be my first trip. Thanks!!:smt100
 
There are a few trips to Bimini in June planned by the Bahamas Tourism, called boating flings.. Some of us will be going on the first one, which is the first Thursday-Sunday in June, and some the next trip to Bimini the 3rd weekend in June... Always a great trip!!!

We depart from the Bahia Mar in Fort Lauderdale. They have a captains meeting the night before, and then everyone leaves 6am Thursday morning. The first trip stays at Bimini Bay, the next ones stay at the Guy Harvey Outpost -Big Game.

They take care of making the reservations at the resort and get a discounted rate for all the boaters.. There is a $75.00 fee you pay to Bahamas Tourism, but you get a nice bag with 2 boating fling T-Shirts and some other stuff, plus they have a night where they do drinks and food...I've met and made some great friends going over... I know White Pearl (Ray) is going on the 2nd Bimini trip the 22nd of June, and hopefully my son and I and some friends will be going those dates as well...

:smt038Hey FD, We are in for the second trip, got friends flyin' in from N.C. that will be riding w/us. Did ya get the info from Barryg below this post? We will trailer down wednesday early in time to make the capts meeting and launch. Let me know if your in!! Take care, Lance

We have been looking at the link. I can't commit just yet. I have to kinda see how my jobs in the shop are going before I make the decision.

That's great!! There will be quite a few of us going over so it should be a great time!!! Just make sure you sign up and send your check for the $75.00 ahead of time.. Hope to see you at the captains meeting the night before (the captain's meeting will be Wednesday night and then we leave at first light Thursday morning.. Right now I'm planning on going then too, but I have some issues with my boat right now, so will see what happens..

OK, where do I send the check?? Tryed to loag in on the bahamas link w/no luck.....Let me know, what kind of issues w/ur boat?? Lance

I went out for the first time in a few months (and even then I would only be in a no wake or minimum wake zone, so going very slow, and when I went to open it up to get on plane, I could not get more than 3,000 RPM's out of both engines and it would not go on plane.. Usually I get up to 4500rpm at wide open throttle, but it would not get there... My mechanic is thinking it might be the bottom or running gear needing to be cleaned, so I have a diver coming out tomorrow.. He also said that since the gas I have in it is the same gas from last Bimini trip in July, that the gas might be bad, so the next step is to fill up the tanks and hope that works.. The 3rd guess is that the plugs are full of carbon, but they too were replaced in June, and it's just odd that both engines are doing the same thing.. The last resort is for him to come to the boat (docked here at my house) and run his diagnostics on his computer, but that would probably mean some bad news, so hoping the cleaning will work!!

A question for the locals in Ft. Lauderdale: I'm trailering down for the June 22 trip and want to know the closest place to launch and park truck and trailer, and info on the departure marina where I can reserve there also. Thanks, Lance

The marina is Bahia Mar (800-755-9558). You might ask them about launching spots. I believe there are a few choices close by.
 
THe closest ramp is at 15th street next to 15th street fisheries. Not sure about the overnight or weekend parking but you could contact the City of Fort Lauderdale.
