April 26-29 I am taking my boat from St. Pete, down through the Keys and up to Miami where I will leave it until early June. I am planning multiple trips, one of which is Memorial Day weekend to Bimini. We are going to be leaving Friday, May 25th and then returning on Tuesday, May 29th- staying at Bimini Big Game Club.

If anyone else wants to join us, come on along!

Really thinking about this!

You guys have fun, I'm skipping Bimini, and doing Abacos this yr

I will be doing Bimini first then big boat to Exumas before it's 1 year "cruising" permit expires in Sept!

2009 I did Port Lucaya and West End (OBB), last year I did 10 days in the Abacos, so this year I thought I would try Bimini. Next year is the Exumas, but hopefully on a 460 or 510.

The Abacos are the best, just a big commitment in time to do it right.

Bimini was great last yr, something different this yr after my master planner Islandhopper00 says when!! :)

Cruising permit may be good for a year (typically not) but the fee to get the cruising permit is only good for 90 days so you still have to pay $300 (35' and up) each 90 days. That fee includes the cruising permit and I know my cruising permits were never good for a full year when I looked the date they stamped on them. Also, new boat, new fee.

Donnie, I believe Trit21 is correct from what I remember, for some reason I thought is only good for 30 days........

ENTRY FEES: All boaters entering The Bahamas are required to pay an entry fee.
For boats up to 35' - $150.
For Boats over 35' - $300.

THE FEES WILL COVER:
Cruising Permit.
Fishing Permit.
Departure Tax for up to three (3) persons. Each additional person over the age of 6 will be charged a $20 departure tax (from Grand Bahama Island this tax is $23 for each additional person above three departing).
This fee is good for a second re-entry within a 90-day period. Original stamp copy of your cruising permit (transire) is required, must be the same vessel in which you enter The Bahamas, but not necessary the same passengers or crew.
If you plan to stay longer than 12 months, special arrangements must be made with Bahamas Customs and Immigration. Bahamas Customs and Immigration office hours are from 9am to 5pm weekdays. Officers are on call during holidays and weekends. There is no overtime charge.

I don't think you guys understand what I'm saying. The big boat is Cayman Island flagged and is here on a 1 year permit. I have to leave the country and then return for another year. I am taking her to Exumas when we need to leave which is August (i just checked).
