270 SLX, 8.2 mag, BR3 - Pulled in to hoist the other day, turned off key, shut down batteries and something is humming. Sounds like a bilge. Pulled all fuses one by one and humming sound persists. So I pulled the positive battery one cable off and the humming stops. The humming does not appear to be coming from the bilge pump (under front of motor) but more toward the ski locker. It is not the hatch lift motor. Wondering if I have two bilge pumps in this boat which I recently purchased. Also, if it was a bilge then it should have shut off when I pulled the fuse. What else could be running with key off and battery switch off? In the rear helm ski locker, there appear to be a pump of some sort. Could this be the fuel sending unit? any thoughts?

Ah, this "edit" makes much more sense than the original post. Much clearer description. Yes, there is a second pump in your ski locker. No, pulling the fuse (at the main panel) won't shut off the pump if the float switch is stuck on. The float switch is wired direct to the battery (it's a good thing). However, there is another fuse that you can find by following the battery cables - this one controls the switch (the 'auto' portion of your pump).

This has happened to me the solution is to replace the float switch. I carry a spare. No idea how a sealed unit fails. We always have a bit of water in bilge from shaft seals. I was told they are direct wire to battery.

Probably trash in the float switch. To shut it down, our boat has a type of breaker in the compartment with the battery switch. As mentioned, the battery switch won't affect it for a reason.

From what I read from sea rays manuals the more forward bilge is sort of your catastrophic back up pump in case aft bilge goes kaput. I just downloaded the entire manual from the website and inside there is the entire wiring schematic for boat, very useful and you should be able to locate everything.
