Mercruiser 5.7 bilge water leak problem. Started the engine on the hard with muffs attached.
Let her run until 160 temperature achieved. Removed the drain plug and water drained for about 30 seconds. Obviously I have a problem. like a leaking hose, but where? As per the pic attached, I have 3 drain plugs but I think there are 5. Where should I be looking for the 2 other plugs and for a loose clamp which might be the problem? Access is difficult but I am willing to try.
Appreciate any help.
TIA

Which drain plug did you remove that resulted in 30 seconds of water draining out?
Water distribution housing?
Garboard drain plug?

FYI there are 2 blue plugs on the raw water pump housing. Difficult to see and touch at the same time. Remove the bulkhead in front of the motor for better access.

Looking at the pic -- what is that blue drain plug on the stbd side near the alternator?

Thanks for your information.
I did not remove a drain plug. The water accumulation mysteriously came from a another source which is what I am searching for. Where and how to find the infiltration is my issue. What do you suggest I do?
Thanks

You said that you removed a drain plug and water drained for about 30 seconds.

so I asked “which drain plug did you remove?”

Like Espos4 asked... you said you removed a drain plug... which one?

I feel like I'm stating the obvious, but... start it up again and look for where the water is coming out :)

I'm guessing... sea water pump.

Who did the winterization?

Check the 2 drain plugs on the sea pump that Dennis mentioned (in blue here, lowest pulley)

Since he was asking about bilge water leak, I kinda figured he was saying that he pulled the transom drain plug, and water drained out of the bilge, and he was asking how that much water got in the bilge from his short run on muffs.

I may be wrong tho, thats just what jumped in my head

This water accumulation is an ongoing issue for a couple of seasons. After every outing there is water in the bilge and I figure it's time to find the source. I have to access the clamps on all the water hose connections and tighten them up. The cool fuel module was changed out a few seasons ago. I will verify the hose connections on the sea water pump.
I am not comfortable investigating clamps while the engine is running.
Will report my findings if any.
Thks

That is exactly what is transpiring. . It is the first time I have dewinterized on the hard with the muffs. It's time to find the water source before launch.
Thanks

As I noted, you're just looking really closely for water dripping. I never said stick your hands down there. You might get lucky - especially with that much water coming in in a short time period.

Maybe get your hands on a borescope and use that to look under engine. I have one that has a lights on the camera end and bluetooth on it so it transmits to my cell phone. Should be able to look for leaks in real time with engine running.

Can get them on Amazon and fleabay for cheap money.

Great option to use where one's head can't fit or machinery is in operation. I even use it to look into spark plug holes to check piston / cyl condition and, when riser elbows are off, can look down inside exhaust "Y" pipe. That's how I found old exhaust flappers / flapper shaft lying in bottom when I bought my last boat. Those shafts can eat a hole through the exhaust "Y" pipe, causing a pretty bad leak, if left too long..
