Bilge pump in my engine room is the type that mounts to the bottom it's square float water goes in thru bottom how do you clean them ? if it has a couple inch of water I tap on the float and the pump kicks on and pumps out water then shuts off like it should, But I should not have to tap on float box and I don't know how to remove from floor to clean out float chamber good ???? any of you had same problem with float sticking

There should be a tab on each side of the bracket which holds the pump. Push them in and the pump lifts out.

Personally, if I had to tap my bilge to make it work I'd be replacing it with a brand new bilge pump. They're just to inexpensive to bother cleaning. Replace with a new pump and rest easy.

you might want to try and spray the pump with a jet spray of water from a garden hose at full force.....sometimes this will clean the 'gunk' out of the pumps/floats without having to dis-assemble the pump.....
