So had a 'ride along' with a captain to explain the boat to me. He said not to worry about taking the drain plug (they dry dock the boat when you're done). But he also said not to worry with a boat lift either. And not to worry about the bilge pump unless there's a lot of water collecting by the motor. I know from reading on this forum he shouldn't be right, but I'd like some pointers. From my understanding, you take the plug out when taking the boat out of the water to let it drain and plug her up when taking her in the water.

My boat is inside rack stored and even they pull the plug before putting back in the rack.

If yours is outside stored you definately need to pull the plug.

Not sure I'm understanding the bilge pump comment. If the bilge pump isnt working, you should not leave the dock. If he's saying the pump will remove any collecting water while your docked, you will run down the battery its connected to eventually.

One of the things I check when prepping for the season in the 240 SD is the bilge pump float valve. It's too easy to do not to.

I drain the bilge via the plug when the day is done and replace it prior to each day.

Just me I guess.
