Hey guys, was doing pre-trip check and bilge pump indicator light did not light up. Checked bilge pump and found debris in pump, removed debris and checked float switch and it worked fine. Still did not work from panel, found blown fuse and replaced it under dash. Light now still does not come on and will not operate bilge pump manually. What do I need to look for?
Thanks Guy's.:smt100

Does it work using float switch?

Since it works when you raise the float switch it's obviously not the pump, or the "always hot" (auto) lead to the float switch.
Assuming you have a three-position switch (on/off/auto) it's either:
A bad switch (test the "on" position tab with a voltmeter when it's in that position)
Wire disconnected at the "on" tab of the switch
Bad/corroded connection at the "on" hot lead to the bilge pump wiring.

I'm thinking that since the light does not come on at the switch, the switch may have burned up when the fuse blew due to the clogged pump. The fact that it still works when you manually operate the float switch confirms that you do have voltage to the switch so there isn't another fuse burned up somewhere else...

My $.02
