Bilge pump is blowing fuses. Haven't used boat since memorial day and it was working then. What are some normal causes? Can a bad pump cause this? Did Searay use a standard pump that I could go get and be ready to replace while I'm all folded up in the engine compartment?

locked up pump may blow fuse. first remove pump and check for debris inside strainer basket what prevent pump from spinning. SR uses different pumps on different models. on your boat MOST LIKELY they used rule 800 or rule 1000. better get correct pump, this way you can reuse bottom basket and all you will have to to is connect wires without reconnecting hose.

That must have been it. It was tough to reach. I had to stick my arm over some hoses, under the oil pain and down below the motor. Blindly searching for the bilge pump. Gently disconnected it from its mount and then shook it in the water that was in the bilge from the rain. Went to the fuse panel and inserted a fuse....bingo the pump is working. Reassembled and all is well.

Thanks

I have a 1994 180 4.3L the bilge pump does not work, or rather when I flip the dash switch nothing happens. The fuse looks good, other switches run fine.

New boat for me, I am a first time SR owner. Also, where can I find diagrams of engine compartment layouts for this model/year? i.e. where is the bilge pump located and can I get to it?

Thanks,

I had this problem with my 190 SD... It was a defect with the pump, and atwood sent me a new one for free...
