What would make the bilge hatch switch suddenly stop working....began trip today...opened bilge hatch before starting...drove boat 1 hour...hit bilge rocker switch and nothing happened...???? checked all the fuse switches, turned motor on and off, hooked boat to electricity.....still nothing. any ideas? do rocker switches often stop working unexpectedly?? Thanks for your help.

To clarify...I should have called it an engine hatch....and all the other switches, lights, etc, seem to be working fine?

Have you got a seperate hatch to enter then engine room? Some boats have a seperate service service hatch to reach engine room breakers. Another breaker might have tripped in the engine room. My old 44 did the same thing. Engine hatch hydraulic was run off the anchor breaker. Hope it helps

The switch can go bad and they have replacements. I had one go bad for my ignition switch on our previous boat. The deck hatch should have a fuse at the helm(if you have a helm sub panel). Next if you get inside to examine the actuator make sure it has power to it. Good luck, let us know.

In most cases it is beneficial to run a remote power feed right from the motor to a convenient location.
There are battery cable jumper plugs you can install

i have the same boat, except 2 years older. My hatch also just stopped working for no reason. The 15amp fuse under the helm station was the culprit.

Yep...15 amp fuse was the culprit...under the helm....got a set from west marine and it works fine now....I am not sure why a fuse would suddenly just blow...but it seems to be working fine and I'll just call if fixed. Thanks for all your help on the forum!!
