I have a 99 270.da one of my blowers just went out so I went to the store bought another and installed it. Still don't work. Tested both old and new blower and both work fine. both blowers that are installed have the same power source and same switch. The blower.that I just replaced does kick on intermittently but sounds really bad kinda screeches then shuts off and the other stays on. But that only happens rarely. ??? All connections behind helm are clean and tight. ??

Sounds like a bad blower , hook it up to the batt and see how it does .

"Tested both old and new blower and both work fine"

This was done out of the boat?

Did you check fuses/breakers?

also look and see if its picking up any trash. leaves , that old sock you lost , wifes comb . just to be sure.

Wow you guys are fast . Yes hooked them direct ly to battery. Work perfect. No socks or underwater or leaves. other than fuse on dash I don't know were they r if any more?

The fuse blew , why did it blow ? when the blower stopped ? why did it stop ?

2 possibilities 1 there is a short in the wire going to the blower or 2 the switch itself may have corrosion on one the contacts. I'm not sure but the power leaving the switch may be 2 separate connections 1 for each blower?

A friend is having interminent issues with his bow lights. best I can tell so far is that pwer isn't leaving the switch for the bow lights. He has it at the stearn light. Unfortunately, he didn't ask for help before he started swapping and cutting.

You need to throw a multimeter at the connection to the one that's not working right. Hopefully you will find a bad connection due to corrosion. I would assume that both blowers are fed by the same 12 VDC line and somewhere towards the transom the wire splits to feed each blower, somewhere between the split and the connection should be your problem.

Ok figured it out the switch feeds to two different breakers then goes to the blower. Didn't notice the second breaker the first time I looked so I swapped out the second one and wala works perfect. thanks everybody
