Hi
My grey bildge paint has cracked in a few places and I've removed a few loose pieces. Does anyone know the correct repair and or product for this repair.
Thanks
Mike

I'd lean towards keeping it simple. Grind/sand until all loose material is removed. Use a product like PC-11 or MarineTex to fill it in flush. Then paint it to match.

You could also re-gel coat it (currently it's not painted - it's gel coated) by contacting Spectrum color to get a matching gel paste.

The sound dampening material is interesting if you are planning on doing the whole floor - I just have no personal experience with it to comment. Would it stand up to gas, oil, etc?

I am in the middle of painting my bilge from the gray to white - much brighter!! I have a few touch up spots to take care of and then a couple of areas which I couldn't get to without getting into fresh paint. I masked off and painted everything I could reach including under both engines. It makes a world of difference to have everything clean and fresh. I used the idea from another recent thread to use non-skid on those areas which I step onto for maintenance. I hope to finish everything up today or tomorrow and I'll get some pictures posted. Just for reference I used one quart of BilgeKote paint and it looks like it will cover all of the exposed areas. I degreased the entire bilge with SuperClean - sprayed it, let it sit for 10 mins and scrubbed it all. I then sanded everything I planned to paint with 80 grit paper and vacuumed the dust. I then went back with fresh towels and acetone to clean any remaining residue, grease, etc and let everything dry. I did not remove the batteries or tanks so I painted around them. I figure when it's time to do additional maintenance I can touch those areas up and get everything uniform.

+1.

When I have to repaint, it's going in white or very light gray.

That stuff sounds(no pun intended) like truck bed liner.

The product Mark is talking about is for sound, not just looks. I've seen it at boat shows and it works great

Wow!! I can't tell you all how impressed I am by finding this resource. Thanks to all of you for your responses.

I wanted to use something a bit more heavy-duty.
Went to my local Sherwin-Williams and talked to them about 2-part epoxies.
Bought a gallon of heavy-duty industrial epoxy (white) that's used for coating the interior of chemical tanks. It was around $100 for a gallon. Not cheap, but you can't chip or flake the stuff with a hammer when it cures.

That's a good idea tobnpr. The price really isn't that bad since true bilge paint is about 25-30 a quart depending on source.
