Had a great 2 week vacation in Muskegon Michigan. Luckily the boat did not break down until the second to last day. We were out on Lake Michigan when the back end started shaking badly. I figured it had to do with the drive. It shook a little harder whenever I turned to port or starboard.

I finally pulled the drive. Uh, oh!

There was water laying in the bellows too. Figure I'll replace bellows, gimbal bearing and U joint.

Is my drive a Generation 1 or II. Or something else.

Anyone know of a good place to order parts?

If there are 2 nuts and bolts on each side its a Alpha GEN II drive.
Figure I'll replace bellows, gimbal bearing and U joint. AND the drive oil
To have that you should have had clicking, clacking, vibration and water entering the bilge and you still kept using it?

No, I did not use it. When it first started I had some people on a tube and I had to do a few maneuvers before I shut it down. There was no water entering or in the bilge. I assume there should be zero water in the bellows? There was a little puddle sitting in the bellows.

I found the Mercruiser site and confirmed that it is a Gen II.

I believe this is what I am going to order. Does anyone knows a good reputable supplier? I am going to look on Amazon this week.

If the cups for the U joints fell out of the center section or the input yoke then you should replace them. Do both joints, not just one.
If you found water in the bellows it was leaking or you had a very high bilge water level at some point. It allowed water into the bellows to cause the damage. Look into a bellows kit instead of piecemeal. Sierra 18-82061 transom kit

I would do trim and limit senders too while you're there.

When I pulled the boat I tried to use the trailer up button. It would not go up. I had to raise it manually and that did not go up all the way. Would the trim and limit sender be the problem? Or was it because the U joints were shot?
