After 15 years on a mooring, I got a call this morning that the only slip at the marina big enough for my boat opened up and was mine for the taking!

We were able to use it for a week 2 years ago when the holder went on a trip. It was great and I'm so exicited to have it full time!

Now the questions. As a new slip user, any advice on what I need to properly set up my lines, fenders, etc? It's a floating dock, will be a stern in starboard side tie. There are heavy cleats on the dock I can use. Comes with power and water.

I do have to figure out what to do with my outboard and RIB currently on weaver davits. They will block access to the dock on the stern and starboard side.

I like to have our spring lines left behind when we leave and then bring the long bow line (it reaches back to the cockpit) and the stern lines, so we have lines to throw helpers when we return. Having the spring lines stay static and on the cleat is nice because my wife can cleat the rear spring to stop the boat from going to far back in the slip and then we can easily cleat the bow and stern.

For fenders, you might want to think about dock pads. I love them, and because our docks are aluminum if you use fenders they tend to rub off the aluminum "dust" onto the gelcoat. I just store fenders for raft ups and going to restaurants. It's nice not having to drop fenders when returning to home port.
