It’s hard to believe that parts flailing around to the extent that they created that much damage didn’t result in a sunk boat.

That U joint does look a bit rusty for just coming out of the water, What service history can you supply and when was the drive removed last.

Just 8 months ago (or 40 hours) we replaced the parts in black (transom, bell bearing housing and gimbal support). The blue part (actual drive) was not touched other than oil change. That was actually the part that failed ( U-Joint). Shaft and U-Joints looked normal at the time.
