I paid for my kids out of pocket. That's what my parents did for me and my siblings. My sister couldn't do that, so my nieces have student loans. During and after COVID when payments and interest were suspended they paid double their normal payments because they knew it would all go to principal. Smart girls. They got that from their uncle....they neither expect nor want their debt forgiven. They knew what they agreed to and want to fulfill that agreement.
