I purchased a bow scuff buster, installed it and of course it wasn't lined up properly and it has to be removed, its off by 1" maybe more at the top. I cut out a verticle slot at the bottom so the plate would slide down around the eye and cover up all of the existing marks from the rollers due to trailering. I pre-fitted the plate and once I was happy with the coverage I removed the backing but lost track of the center line on my 185S as I worked my way up from the trailer eye. I should have listened to the admiral and waited for a better time to install it but you know how men get......

TIP: for the future, use tape or draw a center line with pencil!!!

Anyways, I am going to eventually remove and replace it but I assume its going to be tought to get the plate off and that 3M stuff off. Any suggestions to getting the plate or the 3M off without ruining the gel coat.

:smt021

A wide, stiff plastic scraper should do the trick. You might have to tap it in with a hammer. Acetone can be used safely on the gelcoat to remove any leftover residue.

I did all my portlights that had 10 years of PO trying to seal a leak the way I found that worked best was to use a heat gun to loosen up the silicone then used a scraper to pry them out, after that mine would be worse than yours I used a scraper with acetone then 3M rubbing compound to remove what was left.
