So.... I just picked up my fresh water hose and doused my shoes, discovering that I didn't properly drain it at the end of last season. How all that water stayed in the hose during the car trip home is beyond me. Anyhow... any advice for cleaning/purifying the interior of the hose?

Thanks.

Probably many more ways to do this, but here's one... Put a capful or two of bleach into the hose, then fill the hose (keep the two ends high so the hose completely fills). Let it set over night. Then just attach it to your outside spigot and flush it out good.

I have a sump pump that has a hose fitting on it so i just stick the pump in the bucket with some bleach water and circulate the hose. A drill pump will work also. good luck jim

That's an excellent idea, thank you!

Exactly what I do as part of my spring commissioning. Once filled from end to end, I also connect the two ends (male to female) and then coil it and shake it around a bit to make sure the bleach propagates throughout the hose.

sump pump in a bucket of bleach water. i clean all my lines this way in the basement overnight with lifeline cleaner http://www.cmcrescue.com/equipment/lifeline-cleaner/ and fabric softener the day we get the boat home in Nov. then use bleach/water with same hose for a couple hours, not in the same bucket.
