Best Route St Pete to Sarasota?

Totally depends on the weather/wind. The intercoastal run is a nice ride once you get through the Skyway/Longboat slosh. I'm going to make a run to the Yacht Club within a few weeks and was actually trying to decide which route I was going to take. I think with gas prices and a 15 month old I'll run the inside. I think the YC is on the ICW anyway so it may be easier.

We are at Loggerhead and would highly recommend it! Facilities are top notch and I cannot say enough good things about the staff.

I live on the water in NE St. Pete so need for a slip/high and dry but I bought by boat from Bob at Global Marine who works out of Loggerhead Marina. I was there a few times while I was looking at my boat. The place was very nice, clean and the people were excellent.

I dealt with both Mike and Bob. It was a good experience.

That's a no-brainer. Given you have a 24' , run outside if it's 5-10 kts. or less from N,S, or W. You can push that to 10-15 if its outta the east as long as you hug the beach as you go South.

Outside= NO no-wake zones, less time, less fuel.

And much more of a straight line until you get to Sarasota. BE VERY CAREFUL with New Pass and Big Pass. Although I haven't had the pleasure for 6 months, call ahead to SYC and ask them about the pass conditions, recommended passage, and controlling depth(that's a joke). Both passes have been abandoned by the Core Of Engineers for years.

When you do get to SYC, ask for Anthony Puccio, the F&B Director. Tell him you know his Brother in Law. Let me know what he says.

Thanks so much.
One more thing .....if anyone finds an exceptional condition 28 to 30 please let me know. 2004 -2006 would be perfect.

Thanks again!

Big Pass is now very well marked according to the Marine Max guys I spoke with at Aquapalooza on Lido Beach last weekend. The new Sarasota YC building is excellent. If you are members of SPYC then definitely stop by for a few beverages.

I'm hoping head down there for the night in a few weeks (weekend weather permitting). I heard the pass has changed from years past and it can get pretty shallow? Not that it was the greatest before.
