Hey all...Been a while but I'm back! Now it's time for me to replace the black sunbrella canvas snap on cover that came with the boat as it is breaking down. What seems to be best option?
go to Great Lakes boat tops directly? Check with sponsor listed on the website here? Would like to stay with same sunbrella material and color if possible.
First time replacing canvas so excuse the newbie question.

If you like the fit and finish of the OEM cover there isn't any real reason not to get a quote from Great Lakes. When I was ready for new canvas I wanted changes like to have the cockpit cover extend over the windshield and to have the bimini cover more of the forward cockpit. Those types of changes only come from a custom canvas person. All canvas people have access to the same Sunbrella material that Great Lakes does.

I would get quotes from a local canvas shop and from Great Lakes. Keep in mind that with Great Lakes you have to install the snaps yourself whereas the canvas shop will deliver an installed product.

We've always been able to find good local canvas shops that deliver excellent finished products. Experienced boaters in local markets will tell you who does good work. We just had a new aft curtain made for our Tiara. It was done by North Shore Marina. They hired the head of the Tiara canvas department who was laid off during the recession. He very likely had a hand in making the canvas that came with my boat from the factory in 2004. He did a great job and the boat looks like it just left the factory. Look around and you will be able to find a local source for your canvas needs.
