Beeps on start up?

Have a 1999 270 Sundancer, bought it 2 years ago. Buyer stated that on start up, turn key once and wait for 2 beeps prior to starting. If no beeps turn key back off and cycle key again. Said to never start the boat unless you hear ythe beeps. Believe it was fuel injection related maybe (the beeps). Question is the beeps seem to come and go when starting the boat. I have started the boat without the beeps and have never had an issue. Is there an issue when the boat does not beep? Am I doing damage by starting without the beeps? What would cause it not to beep if I should be waiting for it? Thanks for any info!

It's only a self check for the alarm system, has nothing to do with how the engine operates

Thank you! Kinda had a feeling it wasn't anything to be concerned about, but the previous owner certainly made sure I was aware to wait for the 2 beeps prior to starting.
