I have a 1984 268w/a5,0 mercruiser. I was running at 3500 RPMs, when I heard 2 beeps I came to a stop and the engine died. I put it in natural and restarted the engine. The engine would not continue to run. I got it started and quickly put it in gear, I was able to get moving again, however the 2 beets continued. Anyone have an idea when the cause could?
\\ Thanks Scott

I have no knowledge of your engine, but to me it sounds like an idle air controller.

Ah, the old IAC acting up? When did this happen Scott?

If his engine is original I don't think it had an IAC as it would have been carbureted.

Scott, please clarify your engine package. An original engine from 1984 would not have the warning sensors and their associated alarms. Also, it would be helpful to time the beeps with a stopwatch to get their exact pattern. (e.g. 2 beeps every 60 seconds).
