We looked at a condo today with a waterfront private docking to accommodate a 12 foot beam...we have a 11.2 beam

Will i have much trouble stern in docking with my 310..???.

Do you think it is really 12'? My 12' slip is only 11'9" because it has column bumpers and rub rails. I have an '08 310, with 10'6" beam, and I have to tie it pretty tight to keep it from hitting the roof columns due to wind and waves. I also have Axius, so docking is easier. Getting 11'2" into a 12' slip might be fun with a little wind.

Bill. That doesn't leave to much room for your hanging fenders/bumpers. :wow:

i would hope its 12'

Mine is 12' between the walkways, but after the rub rails and column bumpers went on, there is only 11'9" left. 12' isn't always 12'.

If i can get an end slip where i have open water on the port, or starboard side that would be great.. And if not, and the boater to my port side, or starboard side has a 11.2 ' beam also? i will be in trouble with the fenders etc.

Everyone backs in.....just the padded bulkhead, and 2 poles is what separates each boat........

From the Brochure:

What size boat can the slips accommodate?
Most slips can accommodate a boat with up to a 12 foot beam.

They have no walkways......Just the bulkhead and 2 poles....

Bill -- It would be nice if you could ask the slip neighbors if your boat would fit. They would know. Its hard to speculate

Well, now that's a little different. Can they tell you the distance between the poles? I would guess it's more than 24'. Probably 26', or 28'. So the size of your neighbor's boat will make a difference, but if they are saying it will accomodate 12' beam boats, yours should work fine.

Hi Jim,

I failed to mention that its a brand new condo development with only a model home, and the workings of a condo marina..there are no boats or anyone living there....but the sales people only know that up to a 12' beam boat can dock there..i have no one to ask  not sure even how many of those who buy there have a boat, or will have a boat at all..... We love the lay out and all the things that come with it...but before we make up our minds we have to be sure our lady will fit.... perfect would be if my boat neighbors have smaller boats so there will be more room for mine....:smt001

Right

Never thought of that.....2 boats between the 2 poles, and my neighbors boat size would be the difference, and if its a very tight squeeze?? the dock persons/s can move one of us to a better fitting slip...

hopefully not all the slips are assigned.....

What if you buy a bigger boat, which is very common thing to do ?

Maybe, but not probable....and if we do, then back to the local marina we go....and then rent out our slip to a smaller boat boater........:smt001

Bill,
To give you an idea, my new slip has 3' between the port side and the pilings and 1' on the starboard side and the pier. My beam is 11.5 feet.

Bill, I back in and out every time without any issues, my beam is 11"5 and my virgin slip was 13'. Once I installed my ryan-o-rollers (dock rollers) to the poles, that only left me 7" to spare between port and starboard sides to share. Looks tight but never a problem, I just let the rollers glide me into the slip. My only problem is likely the same you will experience, the next boat you get likely will outgrow your slip.

Bill, try and find out who the dock builder was and talk to them, they will know what the spacing between the poles is versus the center to center dimension.

WOW...:wow:

SO...I would need at least 15' pole to pole....thats my first inquiry, the distance between the poles

Thanks BoB,

Thanks Steven,

I have to find out the distance between poles....:smt001
