We will be in Deale New Jersey, looks like above Asbury Park, for a weekend in August. My 14 year old daughter is performing in a music festival during the week.
Any suggestions as to nearby beaches, hotels, B&B's would be appreciated. Unfortunately we will be traveling by car.
Thanks,
Eddie

well the town of asbury park.. like anywhere within a block from the beach is the ghetto. stay away from it.. its like being 2 blocks from the strip at atlantic city. ... asbury park was a booming place at one time but all is pretty much now abandoned and quiet.. but dont take that lightly its pretty gangsta a block of two away from the beacharea.. thats about all i know about that area..

Yeah stay away from Asbury.
Deal on the other hand is NICE. If you can get on the beach there, you've scored. Manasquan is nice, and all of the beaches around there are nice too.

Asbury Park is seriously Gangsta. Great progress over the last few years means that you can now walk through there in daylight. Not ready for the early evening yet.

On the other south side of Asbury Park (Seperated by a small moat disguised as a creek) is Ocean Grove. Ocean Grove is a quaint Victorian area trying to become the next Cape May. Look for something there. There are no Hotels, but I bet there are a few B&B's.

As you go south from Ocean Grove, you get progressively richer communities until you hit Manesquan. By rich, I mean they have no need for tourists, and good luck finding accomodations.
