I thought Winter was going to hit us here in AZ at some point, but, it still hasn't. I started on some projects thinking I would beat the cold, instead I'm just missing out on some beautiful 80 degree weather on the water.

I have also determined that I shouldn't touch anything on the boat anymor. For every "ONE" thing I try to fix or improve...I break 5 others. SO here is how my project list is going so far.

Wanted to do a complete clean up on the pulpit, so I tried to figure out how to get it off and sand it completely. Found that if you use a small battery powered impact, you can get most of the Ny-lock nuts off of the screws, this would save me from having to drill out and replace the Teak Bungs.

Looks like Sea Ray used a 4200 type sealant to hold the pulpit to the deck.'

The pulpit was far more warped than I had known, and required major sanding.

Cleaned up my old Benson Windlass which is still kicking strong after 24 Years :)

I had some splits in the wood, so I pured glue down into the cracks and pressed it in my habor frieght shop press for a couple days.

I used Sikkens Cetol oil on everything thus far, seems to do alright.

I was trying to do some polishing on the rear, where I tried to remove the old blue Louvers....big mistake. I ended up cracking the first one, they were quite brittle. Then to find Sea Ray used some sort of Clear 5200 to hold the dang things in....I ende up breaking everything out and ordering some new Louvers. I went with these Attwood ABS plastic chrome ones for now, we'll see how they do. I had to also purchase new collector boxes for these as well. NOTE: These were not a direct replacement fit on my boat. I have had to use my dremel quite a bit to ream holes a bit bigger, and I had to drill new screw holes to hold the vents in.

My old regulator started cracking, and was yellow, so I ordered the new ABS chrome one, I think it looks pretty good. The Spigot was also leaking, I didn't care for the brass ones at home depot, and I was having a hard time replacing the one that was existing with new guts or s stainless replacment. I ended up spending a ridiculous amount on this Scandvic spigot, but it looks so
sessy!

SOme new cup holders have also been added. They have a blue LED in them. I will get some night shots. Not to bad, got em for $12 a pop at my local MM.

I'm always for hire...buT, i'm not neccessarily cheap.

You probably have the same issue in AZ that I do in FL.... boat projects from May through October aren't an option because of the heat. We had the boat out today as it was in the high 70's. My boat project list for this winter is to rebed the stanchions, add automatic tab control, add two more speakers and wax the boat.

Yea summers here are not the time to be doing projects, just be out on or IN the water is about all you can handle with the heat.

Nice, Stace...

You show me a man that says that his work on his boat is finished and I'll show you a liar, or a poor ignorant new boater!!!

Looks great, particularly like the Spigot/regulator area and cup holders - mostly 'cause I need to do that too :D To cut the cup holder, you just used a hole cut, then glass the edges?

Do you plan on having the vents covered during periods of rain? My vents create a run of water and fill my bilge every time there is a strong flow and looks like you might have that issue if uncovered.

*love* the pulpit, looks great.

I used a hole saw 3 5/8 for the cut out of the Cup holders. I run it in reverse first to "Burn" through the gelcoat, then foward once I hit glass. Makes a perfect circular cut with no burs. Then sand out whatever I need to with my Dremel and Sandind bit. The Holders fit snuggly. I sealed them in with UV4000.

As for the vents....I don't have a water intrusion issue with the vents because they Go from the top of the collector boxes instead of the bottom. I sealed everything with a light bead of silicone.

Thanks for the compliments guys....someday she maybe almost finished.:smt043

Nice work BBY. You would think we could run out of things to do on these little 268's.....

Beautiful work. You remind me that I wanted to put in a dock water inlet. Now I think I'll have to put in a spigot too! Pulpit looks great. Since you were able to pull it without drilling out the teak plugs, did you have any problem with the bolts spinning when you put the nuts back on?

Well, some did spin when I took them out, I had to get creative with a ratcheting box wrench and a pair of side cutters. I used a die in all the threads to clean them up. When I reinstalled I used new 1/4 20 ss nuts and lock washers instead of nylocks to prevent spinning.

After the nuts are off you can tap up on the bolts , the plugs will come out.

Yea,I tried that on my Stearn rail, the plugs were in there so good they took chunks of wood with them. I didn't want to risk messing anything else up, so I played it safe. My carpentry skills leave something to be desired.

BTW Stace....
I like the shiny bilge vents better than the colored ones
