Battery question

I have a SeaRay 400 with 3316 CATs. I have 4 starting batteis. 2 for each engine, group 27 batteries. I just purchased 2 new batteries (West Marine) 2 mns ago and 2 yesterday. Overnight one set didnt hold a charge as my port engine would not crank this morning. Used emergency sw and got it started and got home safe.

Does any one know which set of batteries go to which battery guage and engine? :huh:They sit 4 in a row and I think the front 2 are port engine and port battery gauge - but do not know for sure. All have water and were fully charged when I purchased them.

I would have thought the ac converter charger would have fully charged both but must not or I have another issue?

Is your battery charger working? You will need a volt meter to see if there is output to each bank. I am guessing the "dead" bank was the house batteries (and drained from overnight use) and somehow the charger is not working (is the breaker on to the charger - assuming you were plugged into shore power).
