So we launched our boat on Monday. Initially we had issues getting the starboard engine started. Turned out to be a dead or drain battery. It was hooked up to shore power on land but I am guess the land circuit breaker was tripped and we did not notice. But that incident got me to thinking, should I have some kind of battery jump start onboard so I am not out and about and can’t start an engine(s)?

What do others use? With 3 batteries I would need one powerful enough to handle 2-3.

Was looking at this one: NOCO Boost HD GB70 2000A UltraSafe Car Battery Jump Starter, 12V Battery Booster Pack, Jump Box, Portable Charger and Jumper Cables for 8.0L Gasoline and 6.0L Diesel Engines https://a.co/d/5jQwo4N

Does your boat have an "emergency/parallel" start switch on the dash? How old are the batteries?

It does have an emergcy start button next to the engine start buttons. That did not work on Monday, or I don’t know how to properly use it.

Unsure of the age of the batteries. We only purchased the boat in Sept 2023.

Does your boat have a genset that you could fire up and use that to charge the batteries?

I have two of the NOCO jump kits, they are awesome. But neither are on my boat.

If you have one engine running and the other will not start, you hold the emergency start toggle down while starting the other engine. If all is working, this is the easiest way to jump the other engine. The next best thing, as mentioned above, is to start the generator and flip on the charger. After a few minutes that should also get you going.

Check the wiring but I'd assume with 3 batteries you have 1 house, 1 starting and 1 generator.

Start the good port engine and press the parallel start switch while you attempt to start the starboard engine. Get the batteries load tested or just replace them. Cheap insurance.
