A few years back I purchased 3 new batteries. They are a hybrid of starting and deep cycle batteries. I'm not sure how long batteries should last. Each winter I pull them and equalize them before the spring. I'd measure the electrolyte level, add acid if needed and once done, re-install. When not being used the boat is slipped with shore power and charger on. I wondering if I'm shortening the battery life by doing this. Before I purchase new batteries how can I tell what my battery charger will support? I know there are different battery technologies available and am wondering if I will need to replace the charger in order to go to a deep cycle or a blend of batteries. A day out usually consists of an anchoring followed by 8-10 hours of fun in the sun.

What is your charger? My batteries are now starting their 4th year and I intend to replace them (2 Group 27 Interstate deep cycles) with AGM in the spring.
I have a Promariner Pronautic 1240 C3. I has the capability for fast, absorption and float charging.
