I went down to the boat today (still on the hard) and plugged in to shore power. I decided to check the battery voltage to see if they were being charged or not. The port side and house battery showed about 13.5 volts so they were being charged. However the starboard battery showed only 12.7 volts so I assumed it wasn't being charged. Shouldn't all three batteries be charging when hooked up to shore power? Or, does the starboard battery only get charged when the engine is running.

They all should be charged by the charger, each bank will charge individually, each bank will take only what it needs. 12.7 would be a fully charged battery, so this battery may not need anything.

That battery may be a little older and It won't hold a higher charge. It's still good at 12.7 volts. Just keep an eye on it. Or... There was a pump or other electric item on at the moment you looked drawing amps.

12.7 may be a fully charged standing battery, but it should be at least 13.1 on the charger and more like 13.5~13.8.

i am not 100% sure about this, but i think i remember reading that my Promariner 'smart' charger will evaluate the charge level of each battery individually and split up the level of charging power accordingly..if you have a similar charging system it may be possible that each battery is receiving a slightly different level of charge by design....

Thanks for the reply's. I found the problem yesterday. I have a 3 bank charger but only using 2 banks to charge my 3 batteries. Well the crimped connector for the starboard battery at the charger unit had pulled off the wire which meant no juice going to the battery. I installed all new connectors on the charging unit and all is well. Batteries are all being charged as normal. Thanks again.
