I have a Year 2000 Sedan Bridge 400 which has Battery Charger/Converter which needs replaced.

The owner's manual specification calls for a 40AMP 120/220VAC 50/60HZ 12VDC Battery Charger (3 Banks)
My current Charger/Batteries configuration has 3 Banks. I do not have Bow Thrusters (requiring a 4th Battery).

Per my boat mechanic (40 years in the business)....a 40 AMP Charger is overkill for what I need. He's trying to keep my costs down on the replacement.

Any recommendations? ... in terms of the following:

1. Minimum Amperage for the New Battery Charger (e.g. 20 AMP, 30 AMP, 40 AMP)?
2. Battery Charger Manufacturer (e.g ProMariner, NOCO, Charles)?

Thanks,

Call promariner. I really like my charger from them. The Pronautic P 1240. Its a 3 bank 40 amp charger. You can get a good deal from Jim @ boemarine.com here on the site (stuff is on sale actually this week for the boat show sale) I would recommend calling promariner though because the techs will go through your scneario with you and make a good recommendation based on your needs.

Based on what I was doing with my four group 31 batteries in 2 banks, they recommended I upgrade from my 30 amp to a 40 amp charger. I have not been dissapointed.
