So have to buy new deep cycle battery and don't really want to spend $250. Heard Walmart and Costco hAve descent deep cycle. Any thoughts? Thanks

I used to use DEKA marine batteries until one failed in first season and they declined any warranty coverage due to being in marine use.? I now use less expensive Wal Mart batteries. If they don't last but a few seasons, I'm not too concerned, they are much less money. So far the Wal Mart batteries have lasted three years.

I have never seen deep cycle batteries at Walmart. I have seen dual purpose only there.
Big difference.

Costco on Long Island sells Interstate batteries now. The Walmart batteries are made by the same company that makes the Interstates and they are made to the exact same specs as the Interstates. Can't go wrong with either if you are looking for dual purpose marine batteries.
But if you're looking for Marine Cranking battery, neither place carries those. Or if they do, I haven't been able to find one in either place.

+1. I even asked the Automotive Section's manager and he said they didn't have any deep cycles.

I use 3 sealed Deka group 31 w/ a smart charger. I bought them for just over $200 each

On the east coaast most wal marts, all sams clubs are made by East Penn. Also try batteries plus bulbs they also carry East Penn batteries.

Thanks guys . So I've got a battery switch and really just a radio, bilge pump and some led lights. I've got one dual purpose that's ok can I get another dual purpose to replace the one that's bad or should I have one dual and one deep? Thanks

A second dual purpose would be ok based on what you have. A group 27 or 31 would be best for a higher capacity.
