Does anyone know where I can buy an insert or fill cover for the aluminum flush mounted post holder for the tables on the deck or cabin. I never use the tables and would like something to cover the hole to prevent gunk from collecting in there. Should I just fabricate something myself? Anyone done this? Thanks, K

It could be a challenge making something that would fit flush into the hole as it is tapered. A thought that comes to mind if you really want it to go away, would be to get a water or fuel fill and replace the base. Really depends on how big the hole is compared to the floor covering.

I would prefer to leave the base plate on the boat and not alter it permanently as I will only keep the boat 2-3 more years. If I removed it I would also have to add some sort of carpet fill as well as there is a cut out for it. I have stored the tables and posts in my closet at home. Thanks, K

When I had my 240SD I about ripped my toe off in one of those holes (sounds like something Gary would do :smt043). So I made these covers out of Oak Strips I had laying around.

I put on four coats of Polyurethane and they have survived over 4 years of use now both on the 240SD and on my 260DA. They have been walked on, rained on, and generally abused but they still look almost brand new. They are not high enough to trip on either and they stay put. The trick is to get the square peg (on the bottom) to fit in the round hole :wow: ................namely make that post so it fits tight but not snug. Its a little bit tricky because that hole is tapered slightly. Everything is just glued together with wood glue.

This might be just what you are looking for: go to www.mcmaster.com and look up

Part Number 9750K37 Push-in Flexible Round Plastic Plug Fits 3" ID, 3-3/8" Head Diameter In stock at $11.78 per Pack This product is sold in Packs of 25

They have a 2 5/8" also

Don't know off-hand what the diameter is of the table support hole.

They have lots of other products and ideas there also. Maybe fill it up with poured latex? Just ideas...

Dave S, I love that look and love the fact you did it yourself.

dsteele1, I believe those would work just fine, it might be some trial and error but I bet I could get one to work.

I think I am going to sit at the work bench and fab a few like the ones made like Dave S. I just love that look that covers most of the base plate. I also like working with wood and trying to create things my wife says I can't do. Great suggestion. :smt038

Keep in mind any of those ready made "plugs" must be snug enough to stay in place but easy enough to remove by hand. Sometimes, being able to do both things just may not work out.

Dave
