The doors on the bar under the sink on our SunDeck no longer line up properly. They are too tight/close at the bottom. Both used to open/close independently, now it must be done in a particular order because they are out if alignment. Not sure how this happened. Anyone have this experience and know how to fix it?

thank you.

We've had similar problems with doors in previous boats. The wood swells and shrinks slightly with changes in relative humidity. If the tolerances were really close to begin with a slight change can cause binding. Also, boats do flex a bit so things will be a bit different when afloat as compared to sitting in your garage on a trailer. I don't know what year boat or what types of doors ya'll got so I can't offer a suggestion. I know in the past, I fixed ours by adjusting hinges or trimming openings. Good luck.

Your signature indicates "boatless", so I don't know what boat you're referring to. Some of the Sundeck doors (under the cockpit sink) were designed such that one must be closed first. However, it sounds like this isn't the problem you're referring to. First thing to check - make sure all the hinge screws are tight, especially the upper ones.

I'll have to update the sig. It's a 2013 260 SunDeck. Boat stays in the water for the season and doors always opened/closed in any order. I'll check for loose screws but if memory serves those hinges have rivets.

List the specific model, too.

You could be right about the rivets - you probably know your boat better than I do. Obviously it's less likely for a rivet to be loose, but still worthwhile to check. What you can do is, with the door slightly ajar, gently lift up and down on the door - see if there's any movement. If there's no movement, you're back to what Chris mentioned about trimming doors. But before doing that, I'd get in touch with your dealer first, given the boat is only a year old. I suspect something has come loose - there's no wood used in that area so swelling shouldn't be an issue.

Won't be able to take photos until next weekend. Not much to see though. The alignment just looks a little tighter at the bottom than it does at the top.
