Well, just got back from BIH and I must say I was disappointed by scum and debris floating in the water. The scum clings to everything and I was glad to leave.
I do understand that BIH is a working harbor but it’s also I a vacation destination.
How much effort would it take to skim the water in and around the harbor and marinas?
BTW, we stayed at Baltimore Marine Center, the staff was friendly and the marina slip holders' were nice too.

They do have a skimmer boat that trolls around picking up the floating stuff.

I agree 100%. The water is disgusting. Every time I go down there I feel like I should steam clean the bottom of the boat when I get back.

Its the blasted storm drains. They drain right into the harbor. For a city full of "green" liberals they sure do find it easy to look in the other direction. I mean how difficult would it be to find a way to filter out the large objects and other trash before it gets dumped into the harbor?

Yes it does get pretty scummy down there. I saw the skimmers hard at work. The Marine Center through has some corners there that really are a haven for scum and stuff... I noticed that when we visited some friends down there and we were walking out to their slip. There was a 48' Azimut yacht docked there right next to this smelly scum puddle and I thought man I would hate that!!!

Still like it down there. I like the Inner Harbor East Marina for location its a nice walk down to the harbor proper and aquarium. No pool but good location.

The Inner Harbor is great but the problem is it is surrounded by Baltimore City.

We took a trip up there to see the tall ships a few years ago. Never docked or stopped the boat. It took us hours to clean the scum off the boat. Sidney Australia is a working harbor and it was nothing like that on our last two trips. It's all where you put your priorities. Country kids are taught to put trash in the trash can. City kids throw it in the street.

Naa... The bodies are OK. Gives the crabs something to feed on. I was thnking more along the lines of condoms and Thunderbird bottles.
